I really love this article on Google Glass and it coming into the medical field, specifically in the surgical area. In my previous life in the US Air Force, I was in the medical field, both as an EMT and later a nurse. To see how far we have come technology wise is quite amazing and cool to see from the sidelines now. What really boggles the mind is there are so many ways you can use Google Glass in the medical field and I think we have just begun to touch the surface (no pun intended for Microsoft ).
First as a teaching device, students do not have to view surgery’s from far way in a gallery, but now can actually see what the surgeon views as he/she does their work. In addition, you can save the recording of the actual surgery for reviewing later if needed (legal, training ect). Best of all is you can store in the cloud as we know storage has become cheaper over the years with the advent of the cloud. In the end, this is good thing, check out the article by John Nosta and see how Dr. Grossmann made history by using Google Glass in his craft.
