Tell us a little about your background and your time in the military — what branch you served in, your role, and what that experience taught you.
I served over 20 years in the U.S. Army, beginning as an enlisted Airborne Ranger and later commissioning as a Military Intelligence Officer. I finished as a strategic planner at U.S. Central Command. The military taught me resilience, leadership, and how to operate under pressure — all of which still guide me today.
What led you to explore a career in technology? Was there a particular moment or motivation that made you decide to make the change?
After transitioning out of the military, I was looking for a career path where I could grow, make an impact, and constantly challenge myself. I kept hearing about Salesforce and the opportunities within the ecosystem, especially for veterans. It wasn’t one moment—it was a series of nudges from fellow vets and mentors that convinced me to give it a serious shot. Once I got started, I knew I’d found something meaningful.
How did you first hear about Merivis, and what made you decide to apply?
I first heard about Merivis from a fellow veteran who was also transitioning, and later through the Military Trailblazer Office Hours. What stood out was the genuine sense of community, mentorship, and purpose-driven support that extended far beyond just certifications.
Tell us about a meaningful or memorable moment during your time in the program — something that made a difference in your journey or mindset.
One of the most meaningful moments was being able to go from mentee to mentor — helping others walk the same path I had just traveled. That full-circle experience reminded me how much we grow by giving back.
What was your first role after completing Merivis? Where are you now, and what kind of work are you doing?
After Merivis, I started working as a Salesforce Consultant and Business Analyst supporting implementation projects across Sales, Service, and Experience Cloud. I’m currently at Alithya, stepping into project management and QA testing roles while helping clients transition from legacy platforms like Oracle.
How has your life or career changed since completing Merivis?
Merivis gave me the confidence and community I needed to succeed in tech. I’ve managed major projects, earned multiple Salesforce certifications, and was recently honored as Merivis’ Alumni of the Year — a full-circle moment I’m incredibly proud of.
What advice would you give to other veterans or military spouses considering a transition into tech? Any lessons learned that you’d want to share with the Merivis community?
You’re not starting from scratch — you’re starting from experience. Lean into your strengths, surround yourself with a strong community like Merivis, and know that you belong here.
