A Decade of Impact: Celebrating 10 Years of Merivis and Building Our Future

Author: No Comments Share:

In 2015, Merivis began as a grassroots effort in Austin, Texas—driven by a mission to help veterans and military spouses successfully transition into careers in the technology sector. What started as a small passion project focused on Salesforce training has grown into a national nonprofit movement that has touched over 1,200 lives across the U.S. and beyond.

Now, as we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, I want to reflect on our journey—and share how you can help shape the next decade of impact.

From Passion Project to National Non-Profit

Over the last decade, Merivis has empowered transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses with the tools, training, and community they need to thrive in civilian tech careers.

What We’ve Accomplished:

  • Delivered 39 Salesforce Admin Bootcamps and 37 Advanced Bootcamps
  • Hosted 6 Merivis Labs focused on hands-on technical learning
  • Reached nearly 1,000 participants through four virtual conferences
  • Engaged a powerful network that contributed over 3,000 volunteer hours
  • Built a global alumni network of 1,200+ veterans and spouses now working in technology

Our graduates’ stories are a testament to what’s possible when community and opportunity converge. From our earliest alumni to professionals like Sheldon Simmons—who transitioned from Navy service into a Salesforce career—Merivis has become a trusted bridge between military experience and the future of work.

The Future of Merivis: 2025 and Beyond

The workforce is evolving rapidly. So is Merivis. To meet the changing needs of the job market—and better serve our community—we’re expanding our programs with a bold, future-focused vision.

Key Program Evolutions:

  1. Expanding Technical Training
We’re continuing our successful Salesforce programming while integrating in-demand skills such as artificial intelligence and data management.
  2. Launching Foundational Tech Tracks
We are introducing new training in cybersecurity, business analysis, project management, and cloud fundamentals—ensuring our alumni remain competitive in high-growth industries.
  3. Evolving Career Support
We’re separating our job seeker support services from platform-specific training. This change allows us to better support our community at each stage of their professional journey, whether they’re just entering the workforce or seeking advancement.
  4. Prioritizing Soft Skills
We are launching targeted programs in leadership, negotiation, relationship-building, and other critical skills for long-term career success in tech.
  5. Deepening Mentorship & Networking
We’re excited to launch a new mentorship initiative that connects Merivis alumni with industry partners. We’re also expanding both virtual and in-person networking events to help foster professional relationships and real-time support.

By 2030, our goal is to support over 2,500 veterans and military spouses—with the same high-touch, community-centered model that defines who we are.

Your Role in Our Next Chapter

As we embark on this exciting next phase, we need your support. Our 10-Year Anniversary Celebration this fall is more than a milestone—it’s a critical launchpad for the future of Merivis.

Support the Mission Through the Honorary Host Committee

We are inviting individuals to join our Honorary Host Committee through a financial contribution in support of our 10-Year Celebration on September 20, 2025, in Austin, Texas

This commitment is vital. Here’s why:

  • It provides the financial foundation needed to ensure that 100% of corporate sponsorship funds go directly to program expansion.
  • Your name lends visibility and credibility to our most important fundraising event to date.
  • Your involvement helps us build new relationships with other sponsors and supporters who share our mission.
  • This Host Committee is honorary, there are no meetings, volunteer shifts or logistics. We are only asking for your name, your financial support and your help in connecting to new people and partners that can usher in the next 10 years of Merivis programs.

Join Our 10×10 Campaign

Merivis is launching a 10×10 campaign to bring together mission-aligned employers and champions committed to offering industry expertise, financial support and employee engagement in support of Merivis programs and our goal of offering pathways for our graduates to gain in-demand skills and opportunities. With your help, we can scale our reach and increase job placements for hundreds of veterans and military spouses annually. Contact us for more information.

Join Us in Austin

Our 10-Year Anniversary Celebration will take place on September 20, 2025, in our hometown of Austin, Texas. We’ll honor the alumni, volunteers, partners, and community members who have made this journey possible—and we’ll set the stage for the next decade of impact.
